01

Log a mileage entry as an expense

Add a new expense in Monira, choose the mileage category, enter the miles driven and your per-mile rate. The app calculates the deduction and stores it in the same ledger as your receipts, so month-end review shows everything in one place.

  • Enter starting point, destination and purpose
  • Attach a photo of the parking or fuel receipt
  • Tag the trip with a client, project or trip name
  • Set your own IRS-aligned or client-negotiated rate

02

Use the IRS standard mileage rate you actually need

The IRS publishes standard mileage rates each year. Monira does not automatically apply a rate because it changes annually and varies by purpose (business, medical, charity, moving). Enter the current rate from the IRS page and Monira will do the math for every trip.

03

Group mileage with the rest of a trip

Business trips rarely stop at mileage. Add the mileage entry to the same trip that already contains your receipts, meals and lodging, and export the whole packet at once.

04

Why manual entry beats always-on GPS

Constant location tracking is convenient, but it drains battery, raises privacy questions and often mis-classifies personal trips as business. A prompt to log a business trip at day’s end is more accurate — and every entry has a clear reason attached.

05

Where Monira stops

Monira does not calculate your tax deduction, it does not decide which trips are deductible and it is not a tax filing tool. It prepares a defensible mileage log that pairs with a receipt archive, ready for an accountant or a self-filed return.

Questions

What people usually ask

Does Monira track mileage automatically with GPS?+

No. Monira uses manual entry. That keeps the log accurate, avoids battery drain and does not require background location permission.

Which mileage rate should I enter?+

The IRS publishes the current standard mileage rate for business use each year. Check the linked IRS page for the rate that applies to your tax year, then enter it in Monira.

Can I export the mileage log separately?+

Yes. Filter your expenses by the mileage category and export a PDF, Excel or CSV that lists date, purpose, miles, rate and total.

Do I still need to keep the receipt for parking or fuel?+

If you deduct the actual expense method or want a full audit trail, keep the receipts. Monira lets you attach a receipt image to the mileage entry.
